Grow Your Own Sunshine

"Life is all about planting seeds of hope

and growing your own sunshine."

~Unknown

Every day a seed catalog arrives in the mailbox to remind me that Spring is coming even as the snow is beginning to fall today. IT is so lovely to curl up in front of the glowing wood stove with a pile of possibilities and plans, and the promise of warm sunny days to come at winter’s end.

I took the above sunflower photo in August and just looking at it reminds me that even in the dark of winter, when we let our inner light shine forth, we can bathe in the golden light of hope. And in that hope, we can visualize the future that we want to manifest.

Sunflowers are imbued with all sorts of symbolic meaning. I found the following statement on a page that really explores the symbology of sunflowers. “Sunflowers remind us that no matter how tough the circumstances may be, we have the inner strength to rise above and thrive. They encourage us to embrace change, adapt to new situations, and continue to grow and evolve.” READ MORE What a wonderful message to hold close to our hearts as we dive into this new year!

As I dug even deeper into sunflowers, I really went down the rabbit hole 😊, I learned that sunflowers can be used for phytoremediation! Sunflowers pull lead and other heavy metals out of the soil and air! Imagine that! HERE is an article to get you started on your own rabbit hole of discovery.
