“Transformation literally means going beyond your form.”
~Wayne Dyer
One of the things that I love about gardening is getting to witness transformation on a regular, often daily basis! It reminds me that transformation is natural and ongoing in all aspects of life.
The above two photos were taken 5 weeks apart. The blossom and its start of a fruit and then the pumpkin itself ready to be harvested. This pumpkin plant was a volunteer that grew out of the compost from last summer. For a while, I had no idea just what this squash-like seedling would become but I decided to let it be, to nurture it and to see what it would grow into. It grew into this glorious pumpkin that is destined to be a delicious pumpkin pie!
Being witness to these every day transformations in the garden, somehow helps me to see clearly the transformative power of our yoga practice. These transformations are perhaps more subtle than the before your very eyes changes that we see in the garden. These subtle shifts in body and mind can be profound and life altering, often surprising us.
"Yoga teaches us how to make better decisions. Everything about practicing yoga involves intention—you set apart time in your day to do it, you move in a specific manner, breathe in a specific way. And when you are mindful and deliberate in your yoga practice, you create the opportunity to become more mindful and deliberate in your life." ~Karen Macklin
By slowly removing the obstacles that hold us back, our regular yoga practice helps us to become more of who we really are. Allowing us to move with more ease in body and mind. Freeing up our energies for even more growth.
“Each tiny effort builds on the next,
so that brick by brick, magnificent things can be created.”
~Robin Sharma
